The first day of school

Remember your first day in school? You should not either, as you were too tiny to remember that very day. You can ask your parents. They surely remember the day and recall it as one of the most challenging moments in their lives. Truly, sending a child in school is not only challenging for the parents but also for the kids too. While the parents have to leave their children in the outside world, the children too step into an unfamiliar place other than the safe surroundings of home. But the first day in school is very important in everyone’s life, as it determines how the rest of his school days will be. Parents play a big role in the transition to prepare their children to move forward their first step in the outer world.

As the parents’ every movement and actions influence the children the most, the parents should always enact as over-enthusiastic over school going. They should boost a confidence in their children. They should keep praising their children that they are finally making his step forward to school.

Apart from the separation anxiety, there is another emotion, which works against school, is cluelessness. Your child probably doesn’t know what happens in school. So give him a brief idea of that.

Before sending him in school, make him aware of what a routine is. Give him small tasks and ask him to finish it timely.

At the first day, keep some extra time to say goodbye. While saying goodbye, make sure that your posture is firm and friendly rather weak or hesitant. After saying goodbye, leave the place at once, as your presence will only weaken your child emotionally.

After he comes home from school, ask him about the first day experience and about his new friends. Praise him for every tiny act, he has done in school. Once he adjusts with the new lifestyle, the rest will be a smooth sailing.
